Here are my three - count 'em, three- Kailey dolls. Kailey was THE worst quality made doll American Girl has ever made. (In my opinion). I got one and her hair was falling out all over the place (without even touching it) and her hair was so thin you could see her wig straight through it, and she was missing her accessories, and her legs were very loose, and in order to even keep her shoes on her feet they had her come wearing these thin elastic bands stretched across her feet that left shiny, indented lines all over her ankles.
I felt kind of bad sending her back, but when I got a replacement, the replacement was even worse than the original. I did not feel one bit bad about sending her back a second time, because this doll seriously is the worst made doll. I really, really LIKE Kailey....but geez. Here (the photo below) is the final Kailey coming home and meeting her new friend Lindsey. Lindsey is the Limited Edition 2001 doll, the limited edition right before Kailey (now they do Lim Ed dolls every year, but back then they just made them every two years.)
I don't know what happened because Lindsey was made VERY well and had no issues at all. If you wanted to play with the dolls, you could really play with Lindsey. You couldn't even comb Kailey's hair because it fell out everywhere. However, the third time I got a Kailey, she seemed a little bit better so I was like okay she is fine. She's not that well made but at least this one's hair doesn't fall out!
I hate to complain but seriously I have lots of AG dolls and I just couldn't believe Kailey was an AG doll based on her quality...AG dolls made prior to 1998 are the BEST quality, but after '98 they are still VERY good...but Kailey had the feel of a cheap toy. It was kinda messed up. But fortunately, the next limited edition doll they made (in 2005) was GREAT quality- no quality problems at all. I like Kailey a lot, but I'm not sure what happened there.
Lindsey and Kailey, American Girls first two Limited Edition dolls (2001 and 2003) meeting each other.
